The MAPS 3 Lake Draper Trail opens Oct. 26 with two bicycle rides, a 5k fun run and activities for kids.
The grand opening celebration is 9-11 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Lake Stanley Draper Marina, 8301 SE 104th Street. Find details at okc.gov/draper.
A brief ribbon-cutting ceremony will kick off the event, followed by a 4-mile fun bike ride, a 13.5-mile fun bike ride then a 5K fun run. All events are non-competitive. Events are free and registration is not required to participate.
A bounce house and park games staffed by OKC Parks employees will be available for kids.
The Lake Draper Trail is the third of three MAPS 3 trails. The West River Trail opened in 2015 and the Will Rogers Trail opened last year.

About the Lake Draper Trail
The 13.5-mile Lake Draper Trail loops the lake from which it gets its name in southeast Oklahoma City.
The wide, asphalt trail with a concrete curb line is for walkers, runners and cyclists. Because of the hills along the side of the lake, it has more elevation changes than other trails in Oklahoma City.
The ADA-compliant trail cost $10 million and, like all MAPS program projects, is debt-free.
The trail has three pieces of public art funded by the City’s 1% for Art program. “Booya Car,” is a partially buried classic car on the east side of the trail at SE 119th Street. “Bee 52” is a representation of a bee and of a bomber sometimes seen at nearby Tinker Air Force Base, and it’s on a peninsula on the west side of the lake. “Convergence,” a sculpture using reclaimed wood, is also on the west side.
The trail project engineers are Cabbiness Engineering, Triad Design Group and CEC Engineering. C-P Integrated Services and Haskell Lemon are the contractors.
“We expect our new trail will stay busy due to its length and proximity to Tinker Air Force Base, Boeing and all the other aerospace companies surrounding it,” said Parks Director Doug Kupper. “We are thrilled to add this 13.5-mile trail to our network.”
